Hull took on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane for place a the last 8 of the FA Cup. Both sides haven't been in the best of form in their respective leagues in the last few months but both have been going well in the Cup. Who would come on top in the Valentines clash? It was The Blades who started brightest as Hull struggled in the 1st 5 minutes and on 6 minutes Sheffield United took the lead when Hull left-back Dawson slipped, allowing Cotterill to cross for Halford to plant a firm header past the recalled Boaz Myhill.
Hull responded with Richard Garcia heading over from a Dawson corner.At the other end Halford could have had a second after breaking clear of a Hull defence but shot straight at Myhill.Hull levelled in the 34th minute when Dawson delivered a curling free-kick from the right and Zayatte glanced a header past Paddy Kenny.
The Blades went close to regaining the lead in first-half stoppage time when Billy Sharp headed wide from another Cotterill cross. Hull appealed unsuccessfully for a penalty early in the second half when Caleb Folan but the Ref waved play on. moments later as Sam Ricketts crossed but Kenny parried Garcia's header.
Myhill was also required to save bravely at the feet of Halford. Bernard Mendy attempted to unpick the Blades defence but
substitute Manucho was unable to make the most of an opportunity in the
area.The game began to fizzle out with neither side able to find a way through in the final 10 minutes. The teams will now meet again on Thursday 26 February, A replay Hull could do without.
He said: "It was a great cup tie. But we are disappointed we have got another game. But we are in the hat for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
"We came out of the traps fairly slowly. We got back into it slowly but surely but it was a feisty affair.
"We got back in it from a set-piece and could have won it in the second half."
Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell:
"Our goal was very well created and we played a little bit better today.
"I think the crowd were different towards the players and they responded to it."
