Phil Brown has said it was Alex Ferguson who rang him about new loan signing Manucho, Brown speaking about the player said. "He's a proven goal scorer, but not yet at Premier League level," said Brown. "He is 6ft 3, 6ft 4 and he has a great stature. He has got an eye for goal and he is certainly good aerially. "We got the phone call from Sir Alex Ferguson. Hopefully that was something to do with, firstly, the relationship that we have with Sir Alex and Manchester United and, secondly, the fact that we took a player from them last season who has now become a £7million player.

"All of those things stand us in good stead at the moment and hopefully we can be as successful with Manucho as we were with Fraizer Campbell.

"But Manucho is totally different (to Campbell), a totally different kettle of fish. Fraizer came through the ranks at United, produced goals in the reserves and that was the reason he came on loan to us.

"Manucho has every chance of playing against Arsenal."
