No I'm not making it up. Hull actually went to the emirates today and returned with all 3 points. Hull started the game brightly and even matched Arsenal for most of the 1st half with the home team looking more likely to score and came close when Fabregas dragged his shot wide.
Arsenal thought they had the lead on 16 minutes when Adebayor had the ball in the net only for the referee to disallow it for a push. The Half continued in the same way with both teams creating chances but Arsenal looking more likely to score. As the half drew to a close Arsenal were clearly on top but the sides went into the break at 0-0.
Into the second half and Hull came out full of confidence. George Boateng having a shot which was blocked by Fabregas 6 yards from goal. On 51 minutes however Disaster struck for Hull and Arsenal took the lead when Theo Walcott ran down the right, crossed the ball into the box, where it flicked off Adebayor and in the scrap that follwed ,the ball finally went in off Paul McShane.
Were the flood gates about to open? Well not exactly. Although Arsenal did almost double their lead but Adebayor's shot was deflected over. Then from nowhere on 62 minutes Geovanni unleashed an amazing strike into the top left hand corner of almunia's goal 1-1 and the game was back on. Surely Arsenal would wake up and put the tigers to the sword. Adebayor went down the other end but shot just wide of Myhill's post.
Incredibly on 66 minutes Hull took the lead. A Corner swung in by Dawson, Cousin rose high to head the ball with a glance into the top corner. As the game entered the last 20 minutes Arsenal and Hull both began to make Changes. Arsenal making attacking changes whilst Hull seemed to be making them to hang on for the win. However Hull where still making chances when Marlon King Broke and hit a 25 yard strike which was saved by Almunia this came after a Shot by Fabregas was parried by Myhill.
The game entered the last 10 minutes and as you would expect it was all Arsenal, fashioning chance after chance but still no way through the tough Hull defence. 6 minutes remaining and the crossbar came to the rescue of Hull when the corner came in, Gallas rose the highest only for his header to hit the bar and drop down to Vela, who from 2 yards couldn't control it, chance gone. That was the closest Arsenal came to an equalizer . Although in stoppage time Fabregas made Myhill pull off a fine save and Van Persie also fired over. Hull hung on for the victory which moves them up to 6th in the table. Arsenal are now 4th.
