LANDON DONOVAN DOESNT HAVE LONG LEFT ON HIS SHORT TERM CONTRACT AND HE HOPES TO LEAVE WITH A GOAL AT THE WEEKEND AGAINST HULL CITY....

Landon Donovan is hoping to sign off his loan spell at Everton with a goal at Goodison. 

The 27-year-old is entering the final days of his stay on Merseyside since joining from Major League Soccer club, LA Galaxy and with this weekend's Premier League game against Hull City his last home appearance, he wants to leave on a high.

But for his close-range miss against Tottenham at the weekend, he would have had something more to celebrate other than scoring his second goal in an Everton shirt. 

The American forward was inches away from equalising at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

“This is just a really disappointing moment for me personally. I’ve put a lot into my time here and another goal would have been a nice reward,” he said.

“I got myself in a good position at the back post and was hoping Jack was going to put the ball across goal. He did that and it came perfectly for me.

“It’s hard to understand what went wrong," Donovan continued. "I felt like everything was right but then I looked up to see the ball had hit the side-netting.”

Indeed, the defeat at Spurs last weekend is not something he wants to keep long in the memory.

“We put a lot into the game in the second half and I thought we deserved to get something out of it,” he added.

“It’s so frustrating because if we had scored then it’s possible we might have gone on to win the game.

“It’s tough but we’ve got to put this behind us now and move on. There are still a lot of points to play for.”
