Snippet: Toffees capture Distin

Everton have completed the signing of defender Sylvain Distin from Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee.

The 31-year-old arrives at Goodison on a three-year deal, and could go straight into the side that faces Wigan on Sunday.

Moyes told the club website: "He'll give me a centre half. I needed one before Joleon [Lescott] left and he'll give me a direct replacement.

“He is left-footed, which I wanted."
