Snippet: Everton fail with Luisao bid

There have been reports today that Everton have failed with an attempt to bring Benfica's Brazilian international defender Luisao to Goodison Park.

The Toffees have been in the market for a defender since Joleon Lescott left for Manchester City and although the ball is rolling to bring in Sylvain Distin, it seems Moyes wants further reinforcements.

According to Portuguese sources, Everton put in an offer of £10.5million for Luisao, but Benfica were quick to knock that back, saying that they would only consider a sale for around £17 million.
