This Saturday see's Phil Brown's, no longer, high flying Hull City visit the Sunderland Stadium of Light. In the return fixture earlier in the season Sunderland ran out 4-1 winners after a wonder goal from Steed Malbranque broke the dead lock. That match ultimately saw Ricky Sbragia given the Sunderland Manager role permanently after the players were heard to say 'Give him the job' on MOTD.

At the time of the away fixture Sunderland were in the bottom three while Hull were right up in the top 8, but how times have changed for the Tigers who have slumped down and now occupy 15th place in the Premier League table, just 2 points and 2 places above the Black Cats.

Confidence is high on Wearside after an impressive performance, albeit still a defeat, against world, european, league cup and league champions Manchester United.

While Hull were downed in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sunderland local rivals Middlesbrough and are severely lacking confidence, both their players and their fans.

A Hull fan's point of view:

"After Defeat against Middlesbrough I’m not looking forward to the trip to Sunderland.

"Our form at present is terrible and Middlesbrough to me was a must win . If we would’ve beaten Middlesbrough then I would be confident of avoiding the drop and with only 6 games to go things look bleak.

"Middlesbrough have been given a huge confidence boast with the win against us and Newcastle have also been lifted with the arrival of Shearer.

"Hull at the moment are stuck in a rut and I’m honestly hoping for a draw this weekend against Sunderland.

"A Draw is the best we can hope for as are side has no confidence left what so ever in my opinion and we were heavy beaten 4-1 by your boys back in December.

"Steed Malbranque was great for your side that day. On Saturday however I worry about are defence which made a handful of mistakes against Boro and with Jones and Cisse up front it could yet again be another Defeat.

"I expected the winner of this game to go on and stay up. Confidence plays a big part at this stage of the season and who ever wins will take massive confidence from the game.
