Calling all Sunderland fans - Let's get the Stadium of Light rocking in the final six games of the season and really give the lads a boost for the run in, we all saw how well we played against Manchester United last weekend with the great atmosphere.

SAFC Chairman Niall Quinn has praised Sunderland's fans for their support during last Saturday's game against Manchester United.

The Wearside fans were right behind Ricky Sbragia's team against the European champions, providing a great atmosphere.

Sunderland, battling to stay in the Premier League, will hope for more of the same when Hull visit the Stadium of Light in three days.

Quinn said: "I came away from the game encouraged by the connection between the fans and the players that was clearly evident.

"I slept soundly for the first time in a while on Saturday, confident that we have what we need coming up to the Hull game.

"I'd like to say a huge thank you to our fans for the part they played in creating that. You can't underestimate how much it drives the players on whenthe crowd is really behind them."

Quinn has issued a rallying call to supporters ahead of the crucial game against Hull on Saturday.

He said: "I can't wait for the game and having spoken to each of the players individually, I know they feel the same. I've asked a lot from our supporters recently but I'd plead with them to get behind the team in numbers for this one.

"Fair play to Hull , they're bringing the maximum number of fans they can - 3,000 - so they're up for it and it's up to us to show how big a club we are. I'm looking forward to one of the best atmospheres of the season."

The game starts at 3pm on Saturday and is NOT a televised fixture. Tickets are still on sale, priced from £10 for under-16s and £22 for adults.

Over-65s and under-22 concessions are available, priced at £17 (proof of age must be supplied when purchasing concession tickets).
