Bolton Wanderers midfielder Ivan Campo has been ruled out for up to three months after a challenge by Arsenal new boy Abou Diaby left him with a broken foot. The veteran has only just returned to action following a similar injury earlier on in the season so this fresh setback will come as a huge blow to both the player and his club.

Wanderers already have a number of players missing and Campo's injury has further strengthened the need for Bolton to bring in new players before tommorows transfer deadline.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has even suggested that Campo may not play for the club again this season and that could mean the end of the road for the ex-Real Madrid man in English football as he has been linked with a move back to his native Spain in the summer when his contract expires.

"My ultimate search is on given the very depressing news, after the game on Saturday, that Ivan Campo has broken his foot after what was a horrendous challenge on him," Allardyce told the official website.

"The outcome is very serious both for him and for ourselves. Between now and the deadline means that I will spend all my time right up until midnight trying to secure at least one player's services for the need of the squad to improve it."

"Ivan Campo is more than likely to be omitted from the team until the end of the season because of that injury.
