League Two side Wrexham have told any top flight club that they must pay big money if they are to land young midfielder Mark Jones. The Welsh international has impressed greatly over the last two years at the Racecourse Ground and is now believed to be the target of many Premiership clubs with both the Wanderers and Manchester City mentioned.

Dragons boss Denis Smith is reluctant to lose the 22-year old who has already found the net on eleven occasions this season and says the club are less likely to sell now than in previous months.

"The ship has been steadied and we're not in that desperate hurry for money now, so if anybody is interested in Mark then they'd need a lot of money," said Smith

Meanwhile Jones told Sky Sports that he is flattered by the interest shown in him but is happy to stay with the North Wales club and help them to promotion at the end of the season.

"It obviously means I'm doing something right, but I feel I'm progressing well enough at Wrexham and the danger with moving to The Premiership is that I might not play too many competitive games," he admitted.

"That wouldn't help me improve at this stage of my career. It may actually be counter-productive.

"I've come through the youth ranks at Wrexham and I'm happy here and my only focus is winning promotion for my team."
