Mexican club Chivas have confirmed that they will attempt to sign Bolton Wanderers unsettled striker Jared Borgetti during next month's transfer window. The 32-year old has seen opportunities very limited since moving to the Wanderers from Pachuca six months ago and has made just seven short substitute appearances in the Premiership.

Borgetti's future has been at the centre of much debate in recent weeks with the player himself saying that he would be prepared to stay and fight for his place at the Reebok Stadium.

Chivas owner Jorge Vergaga told news sources in Mexico that he hoped Borgetti would be tempted by a return back home to boost his chances of being fresh for next summers World Cup finals in Germany.

"We are hoping he will be our big acquisition in the New Year which will also help him to be in better shape to play for Mexico in the World Cup in Germany," said Vergaga.
