Wanderers midfielders Martin Djetou and Hidetoshi Nakata must wait a while longer as they look to extend their contracts at the Reebok Stadium. Allardyce has been impressed with Djetou's brief contribution to the team so far and has earmarked the former French international for a more prominent role in the starting line up at the start of next year.

"We will decide on Martin between now and the end of December. But, at the moment, it looks like being a definite yes. With so many players leaving [for the African Nations Cup], he could end up being first choice. And, when they come back, they might be the ones who find it difficult getting into the side.

The Bolton manager is of the opinion that Djetou can provide the perfect competition for Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye, a player who is currently excelling in the defensive midfield role.

"Martin's had to wait patiently, because of the form of Abdoulaye Faye, and it's been difficult for him to break into the side. But, when he gets the opportunity, like he did at Fulham, he shows us that, defensively, he can be the perfect cover for Abdoulaye.

"He makes a nuisance of himself, destroying the opposition and winning the ball, which is such an important job."

Meanwhile a permanent move for Japanese star Hidetoshi Nakata must wait until the summer after Bolton confirmed they do not have enough in their January budget to sign the Fiorentina ace outright.

"It will be the end of the season when we look at making Nakata's move permanent. The key reason is the fee. That will have to be taken out of next season's budget because the money this year will be used to add players in January." confirmed Allardyce
