Blackpool look set to dispense with the services of former Bolton Wanderers defender Colin Hendry after they put Simon Grayson in control of first team affairs. Hendry has been in charge at Bloomfield Road since the start of last season but results on the pitch during this campaign have been far from impressive meaning that the former Scotland international has come under pressure from the Oyston family who own the Lancashire club.

A statement by Blackpool Football Club yesterday revealed that Hendry and coach Ian Miller where due to meet next week to discuss the situation further.

"Following further discussions with Colin Hendry on Thursday, Simon Grayson has taken temporary charge of first team matters."

"Messers Colin Hendry and Ian Miller, in line with their request are scheduled to attend a further meeting at the end of next week to discuss the club's position."

"No further comment will be made by anyone connected to Blackpool Football Club on this subject"

The 39-year old left Bolton in the summer of 2003 following a much publicised family matter. In 20 years as a player he served Dundee, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Glasgow Rangers, Coventry City, Bolton Wanderers, Preston North End and Blackpool.
