Bolton have completed the signing of former Fulham player Martin Djetou on a contract which will last until the end of the current season. The 30-year old Frenchman can play in either defence or midfield and will offer Sam Allardyce a number of options as the Wanderers embark on what is usually a busy time of the season.

Djetou made over 50 appearances for Fulham between 2002 and 2004 and has also had spells at Parma, Monaco and Nice, whom he was with for a six month spell at the end of the last campaign.

Allardyce told the Bolton official website that he was happy to bring the Ivory Coast born player to the club to help compensate for a number of crippling injury problems which have befell the club of late.

"After the number of injuries we have sustained of late, I had to move quickly to bring in more depth. When I heard Martin was out of contract I jumped at the chance of bringing him to Bolton. He is an excellent all-round player and has the ability of playing in a number of positions.

"He has had a distinguished career across Europe and he is relishing the prospect of getting another chance of cracking the Premiership.

"We have earmarked the need for Martin to work on his match fitness, but there is an outside chance that he could go straight into the squad for the Chelsea game on Saturday and our UEFA Cup match, the following week, against Besiktas."

Djetou had previously had trials at Southampton, Crystal Palace and German club Duisburg.
