Bolton have been rocked with the news that popular midfielder Ivan Campo could be out of action for up to two months with a broken foot.
The 31-year old suffered the unfortunate injury during a training session this week and will be missing for key Premiership and European matches over the next few weeks to further decimate Sam Allardyce's thin squad.
Campo played a starring role for the Wanderers during last week's UEFA Cup debut against Lokomotiv Plovdiv but surprisingly lost his place to Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye for Sunday's smash and grab victory at Manchester City.
Ironically the impressive Faye is also receiving treatment after being withdrawn during the half time interval at the City of Manchester Stadium to cloud what was an otherwise excellent personal display.
The likes of Hidetoshi Nakata and Faye are expected to benefit from the enforced absence of the Campo who has broken his metatarsol bone, an injury which has also plagued the likes of David Beckham and Roy Keane in recent years.
A disappointed Wanderers boss Allardyce told the Bolton Evening News that another injury blow was the last thing that the squad needed at this busy period of the early season.
"He could be out for six to eight weeks, He ran into a tackle in training, got caught and broke his foot - and that ís something we could well have done without at this stage."
"You can't legislate for what happened to Ivan, but we've had more strains and pulls than normal and that ís not what we want with a squad like ours, but I suppose we couldn't have another season like the last one, when we hardly had any injuries.
"It's just as well that we've had players like Henrik Pedersen doing as well as he has. I don't know what we'd have done without him when Ricky Gardner was injured."
