League One side Tranmere Rovers have appointed former Bolton Wanderers favourite Warren Joyce as their new Centre of Excellence coach this week. Joyce came through the Bolton youth ranks in the early 1980's under the strict guidance of his father and Wanderers coach Walter Joyce, he went on to appear in over 180 games for the club before having spells with Preston North End, Plymouth Argyle, Burnley and Hull City amongst others.

He was appointed player-manager of Hull in the late 1990's before taking up youth coaching roles with Bury, Manchester United and Leeds United, leaving the latter in May 2004 following the Yorkshire club's relegation from the Premiership.

The 40-year old told the Rovers official website that he was delighted to be on board at Prenton Park as part of Brian Little's backroom staff.

"I am delighted to be coming on board at Tranmere Rovers,

"Tranmere have great traditions and a reputation for youth development and I'm pleased I can help to continue those".
