Bolton have finally tied up a deal which will bring Fiorentina midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata to the Reebok Stadium on a twelve month loan deal.
The 28-year old Japanese star has passed his medical with flying colours and is now awaiting international clearance to begin his first ever stint in the top tier of English football.
Nakata told the official website that he is looking forward to playing in an important season for the club.
"I am very pleased to begin a new experience in the Premier League," Nakata told the club's official website.
"I look forward to being part of Bolton Wanderers and to start playing in a season that will be very important for the team and for myself."
Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce was as equally delighted to have recruited the former Roma playmaker to his ranks after a long drawn out negotiation period which started a few weeks ago on the club's tour of Japan.
"I'm pleased the deal is sorted out, The player's medical was fine and we have now sorted out the work permit."
"He is an exciting acquisition for us and will add much needed strength to our midfield."
Nakata becomes the second Japanese player to play for Bolton in their history, but he will be hoping to go one better than fellow countryman Akinori Nishizawa, who had an unsuccessful loan spell with the club in the 2001-2002 season.
