Mokoena In Wanderers Sights?

Mokoena - Bolton target?

Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic are interested in signing Blackburn Rovers midfielder Aaron Mokoena should the South African international decide that his future lies away from the Ewood Park club.

That is the word coming from the Daily Mail newspaper in any case, despite the fact that the Bafana Bafana captain still has a year of his contract left to run with Rovers.

The 27-year old battler is beleived to want more regular first team football leading up to the 2010 World Cup in his homeland and a switch across the North West could appeal.

Mokoena joined Blackburn from Belgian club Genk in 2005 after spells with Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen and Germinal Beerschot and he has made just under 80 appearances during his time in Lancashire.

Should he make the move to the Reebok then Mokoena would be the third South African to play for the club behind goalkeeper Wilfred Waller and defenders Mark Fish and Quinton Fortune.

In February's clash between Bolton and Rovers at Ewood, Mokoena came on as a late substitute to replace David Dunn, but he has appeared just three times for Blackburn since that game.
