Owen Coyle could be about to return to English Football as the new manager of Championship side Burnley but the former Bolton Wanderers striker remains silent on links to Turf Moor and is instead focusing on his current job at St Johnstone.

The 41-year old former Republic of Ireland international is rumoured to have impressed the Clarets with the job he has done North of the Border with the Saints and it has been suggested that he could be one of the front runners to replace Steve Cotterill.

However Coyle, who spent two years with Bolton and scored in the 1995 First Division Play Off final against Reading, has recently signed a new deal at McDiarmid Park and is solely focusing on the job in hand with the third placed Iru-Bru Scottish First Division outfit.

"It`s the first I`ve heard of that (link with Burnley). If there are reports elsewhere linking me I know nothing about them. It goes without saying I`m totally focused on St Johnstone." said the striker who has served over a dozen clubs in a 20-year plus professional career.

Manchester United coach Mick Phelan joins the unemployed Mike Newell and former Wanderers favourite Peter Reid on the list of names rumoured to want the job with the East Lancashire club.
