Thompson For Sheffield?

David Thompson could finally be about to fix himself up with a new club six months after his departure from Bolton Wanderers after Championship side Sheffield United confirmed that the experienced midfielder was training with them.

The 30-year old was released by former Wanderers manager Sammy Lee in May of this year after making eight first team appearances for the club but a knee injury has delayed him the chance of finding a club sooner.

Now Blades manager Bryan Robson is taking a close look at the combative midfielder in the hope that he will be able to provide the qualities to take the club into the top half of the Championship.

Thompson began his career with Liverpool in 1996 and has since gone on to play for Swindon Town, Coventry City, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic, Portsmouth and Bolton.
