The agent of versatile French defender Patrice Eva has revealed that Manchester United are interested in the player's services. However, the club will have to match Monaco's £5million price tag if they wish to sign the 24-year-old. The agent of Manchester United target Patrice Eva has revealed that the left-back will make a move to Old Trafford if Sir Alex Ferguson offers the right fee to his current employers, Monaco.

The United boss is desperate to add a left-back to his ranks with the well-rated Gabriel Heinze facing the rest of the season on the sidelines through injury. However, the club will have to cough up an asking price of £5million for the Frenchman, with a host of others across the continent rumoured to be lining up New Year bids.

"We spoke at length with Monaco and they are not opposed to him leaving.” said Evra’s representative Frederico Pastorello.

"If the right offer is made, the transfer to United will take place."

The 24-year-old looks set to leave Monaco under controversial circumstances, missing three days of training after the Christmas period. The player cited personal problems for his actions, but was subsequently axed for Thursday’s league clash with Auxerre.
