Most Manchester United players were victorious in the final round of the World Cup Qualifiers on Wednesday evening. England's 2-1 victory over Poland at Old Trafford made sure they finished top of their qualifying group.

England 2 - 1 Poland

England finished top of Group 6 after an impressive performance and a good result against Poland. Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith all played their part in the energetic victory.

Michael Owen broke the deadlock just before half-time, getting a touch on Joe Cole's strike but Poland equalized seconds later after finding a big space in the England defence. Frank Lampard's second half-volley secured the victory for England however.

Wales 2 - 0 Azerbaijan

Ryan Giggs continued his run as the Wales skipper in sensational fashion by netting both goals in Wales' 2-0 home win over Azerbaijan. An early 3rd minute goal followed by an early second half goal won the game for the Welsh, who finish 5th in Group 6.

Slovenia 0 - 3 Scotland

United midfielder Darren Fletcher also grabbed an early goal for his country as Scotland rectified mistakes from the weekend to beat Slovenia 3-0.

Holland 0 - 0 Macedonia 

With a place in the World Cup already sealed, Oranje could relax and drew with Macedonia 0-0. Ruud van Nistelrooy played a full 90 minutes up-front and Edwin van der Sar kept another clean sheet.

Portugal 3 - 0 Latvia

Cristiano Ronaldo only completed 45 minutes for Portugal as they ran out comprehensive winners against Latvia. 

Republic of Ireland 0 - 0 Switzerland

Unfortunately, the Republic missed out on the World Cup after the goalless result with Switzerland. John O'Shea was involved for Brian Kerr's team.
