Sir Alex Ferguson predicts Diego Forlan will receive a "terrific reception" when he returns to Old Trafford for Villarreal in the Champions League.
Villarreal's inclusion in the same group as United for the Champions League was
inevitable after the Spaniards beat Everton home and away to qualify.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who brought the Uruguayan striker to United for over £7 million, never put his full faith in Forlan but he did produce goals in big games against the likes of Liverpool and Rangers.
"He is a smashing lad," said Ferguson. "The fans will give him a terrific
reception.
"We all wished him well when he left and I am really pleased he has done well.
He was a terrific little player for us - a real trier - but it was really difficult for him.
"Coming from South America, I think he expected to play all the time.
''But Ruud van Nistelrooy arrived about the same time and given the way he progressed, and the shape of our team, it was hard for Diego."
