Real Madrid claim to have swooped for Manchester United target Cicinho at the 11th hour as the Brazilian defender was in England negotiating terms and conditions with the Red Devils.
Sir Alex Ferguson is eager to challenge Gary
Neville for the right-back position he's made his own over the years and bolster
his defensive options.
The 25-year-old attacking defender confirmed he signed a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid, who look set to offload Michael Owen to Newcastle United. The Brazil international stated: "I am very happy, it's a good agreement for Sao Paulo, for me and for Real Madrid.
"For the time being I will continue to think about winning titles with and helping my club, Sao Paulo, as much as I can, as they have given me everything. I will think about Spain when I leave Sao Paulo."
Cicinho expressed his delight at meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson recently but when Real came knocking on his door it was an offer he couldn't refuse, playing with countrymen such as Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo.
