Bayern Munich have insisted Manchester United have not made an offer for midfield general Michael Ballack, who has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. Ruud van Nistelrooy has reiterated his intentions to stay at Old Trafford despite tempting links to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real

Bayern stayed in the same hotel as the Red Devil during their spell in Japan as part of the tour of Asia but claim club officials did have a meeting but not regarding Ballack.

The 29-year-old is seen as a possible replacement for Roy Keane and with the likes of Kleberson and maybe Phil Neville leaving this summer, Fergie has the opportunity to sign the 'experienced midfielder' he demands.

Bayern manager Uli Hoeness explained: "While in Japan, Manchester United shared the same hotel as us and this led to interesting conversations.
