Barnsley Deny Rossi Rumours

Barnsley manager Andy Ritchie has denied attempting to make an audacious swoop for Manchester United's Italian striker Guiseppe Rossi. Ruud van Nistelrooy has reiterated his intentions to stay at Old Trafford despite tempting links to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real


The League One club have been linked with the young and skillful striker but boss Ritchie has squashed all rumours regarding a loan deal to Oakwell.

"I did do an interview with MUTV a while ago but it was just a general piece about the strikers at United and how they had fared through the season," he explained. "Rossi's name was mentioned but only in that context.

"There was nothing said at all about him coming to Oakwell or anything at all in that context".

Rossi, half American, made a switch to Old Trafford last summer from cash-strapped Parma and raised a few eyebrows following his arrival in the reserves with impressive performances.
