Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill has revealed he is confident that goalkeeper Roy Carroll and winger Ryan Giggs will sign new deals at Old Trafford, despite rumours suggesting otherwise.

Welshman Giggs recently requested a 2 year extension, admitting he would sign if he were offered such a deal but Northern Ireland international Carroll has been more of a task to get to sign.

""I am very confident Ryan will stay with Manchester United for the remainder of his career." Gill happily said.

But regarding Roy Carroll's contract situation, Gill added: "He has rejected (a new contract), although hopefully we can work something out."

"We know Ryan wants two years and we have only offered him one, which is what we feel is appropriate for a player in their 30s and it is what we have done in the past,"

"But I am sure both parties can sort something out because Ryan doesn't want to leave and we don't want him to leave." he continued.

Both players' contracts are set to expire in the near future and the United faithful are praying the duo will sign on and end this on-going saga.
