Manchester United and Wales winger Ryan Giggs has turned down a contract extension, claiming the new deal was too short for his liking.

However, Giggs revealed he is willing to negotiated terms with United amid all the media speculation this season may be his last at Old Trafford.

The 30-year old's contract worryingly expires in the summer and moves to Bolton and somewhere in Italy have all been mentioned in the press. Speaking just after his contract refusal, the winger said: "I have been offered a one-year extension to my current deal but I turned it down,"

"I was hoping for a longer deal. I want to end my career at Manchester United and asked them to reconsider."

He added: "I hope that they come back to me with a longer deal. For the moment, I'll just have to wait and see."

The deal offered obviously indicates Sir Alex Ferguson's faith in Giggs is running out and even dropped the Welshman for last weekend's derby game with Manchester City, that ended up in a goalless draw.

Giggs isn't the only United player to have refused a contract extension in recent weeks. Goalkeeper Roy Carroll also rejected a one-year contract extension as he, like Giggs, is not guaranteed first team football with such fierce competition.
