Manchester United striker Alan Smith has spoken of his sheer joy since his £7 million summer move across the Pennines to Old Trafford from Leeds United.

Smith has already won the backing of the United faithful with sensational goals and performances and has also earned a place in Sven Goran Eriksson's England national side.

"I have enjoyed everything I have done since I came here," revealed Smith.

"It hasn't been hard to settle in, I am playing on the Champions League stage again and I am really enjoying my football."

"I wouldn't say I have improved dramatically as a player but it's a bigger stage and playing with better players always helps you."

Many fans were unsure of what the 24-year old could contribute to the side, but has now been tipped for a future captaincy role.
