Long serving midfielder Nicky Butt is set to complete a move to Premiership rivals Newcastle United within the next few days, according to reports. The deal is reported to be around the £4 million mark after failing losing his regular place in the starting XI at Old Trafford. Butt, 29, has been ignored for most of the season by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and appears to have lost his place in the team after an amazing 13-years.

The deal is reported to be around the £4 million mark although Sir Alex and chairman David Gill have slapped a price tag on the England international that was much higher.

Tireless midfielder Butt had his Euro 2004 ruined by injury after damaging a ligament in his knee but will be fine for the new season – whether he moves to St James’ Park or not.
