The 21-year-old is highly rated at Old Trafford and looks a good prospect for the future, despite a disappointing loan spell at Swansea City earlier in the season, where Swans boss Brian Flynn also tried to persuade Nardiello to opt for Wales.

Coventry-born Nardiello, whose father Donato played for Wales, scored twice on his first game of a loan-spell at Barnsley where he will gain vital first-team experience. Mark Hughes is tracking the progress of Nardiello at Oakwell, and has made it clear that the door to international caps would be available with Wales.

"I've spoken to Danny's father and I've been watching him very closely." said Sparky.

"I've made it clear that the door's always going to be open for him."

Nardiello has showed glimpses of brilliance for the United reserves this season, netting a number of goals for Ricky Sbragia's second-string side. Realistically, a call from England probably wouldn't come in the future, so the striker could well opt to play for Wales.
