Premiership chairmen have voted in favour for a winter break to take place in the Premiership next season. The Chairmen deemed it relevant for a two-year 'winter break experiment' which will see clubs out of action for a 13-day rest period. Hobbs in Trouble

Premiership chairmen have voted in favour for a winter break to take place in the Premiership next season.

The Chairmen deemed it relevant for a two-year 'winter break experiment' which will see clubs out of action for a 13-day rest period.

A winter break takes place in almost every league in Europe including the German Bundesliga and the Dutch Eredivisie to rest players during the festive season.

"Sven thinks players should have an absolute break for seven days and then have six days back in training. He thinks that is enough." said chairman Richard Scudamore 

"It was a compelling case that was put forward with benefits to all clubs, so they were happy to agree in principle,"

PFA Chief Executive Gordon Taylor also thinks its a good idea, and said: "The batteries run down on the very best players as there is big demand on players so it will be good both physically and mentally."

"The players will also welcome it. There will be those at the top [of the Premiership] worried by a change in the pattern, but those at the bottom will be glad of the break."
