Manchester United defender John O’Shea was in action for Ireland as they drew with Russia 1-1, in the European Championship Qualifiers at Lansdowne Road. O’Shea only spent a brief spell on the pitch, as he injured his knee on the 26th minute, and had to be replaced by Ian Harte. Match Report

John O'Shea Injured, As Ireland Draw 1-1 With Russia

Manchester United defender John O’Shea was in action for Ireland as they drew with Russia 1-1, in the European Championship Qualifiers at Lansdowne Road.

O’Shea only spent a brief spell on the pitch, as he injured his knee on the 26th minute, and had to be replaced by Ian Harte. Damien Duff scored Ireland’s only goal, ten minutes later.

The Russians equalized just before half time from a Sergei Ignashevich six-yard header.

Meanwhile, United’s young Welsh striker Matthew Williams was in action for Wales U21, as they lost 8-1 to Italy U21.

Williams came on for Jimmy Shoulder’s team on the 22nd minute.
