All the pre-match hype was about Wayne Rooney being reunited with his former club, but it was United's new aquisition - Odion Ighalo - who grabbed the headlines with a fine brace in a 3-0 Manchester United FA Cup win.
The Red Devils extended their unbeaten run to nine matches and secured safe passage to the FA Cup quarter-finals, after Luke Shaw broke the deadlock.
United's left-back bagged a deflected goal on 33 minutes, before Ighalo doubled the advantage four minutes before the interval.
Ighalo then secured United's place in the last eight of the world famous knock-out competition, as he rifled home a fine finish to set-up a trip to Norwich City's Carrow Road in the next round.
The travelling Red Army sang Rooney's name throughout - and United were reminded of the talent of their former talisman, 34, as he went agonisingly close to scoring with two fine free-kicks.
Full Time - Derby County 0-3 Manchester United
Attendance - 31,379
