Manchester City were the only title contenders other than United to win this weekend, climbing to third following a 5-0 demolition of Sunderland. Meanwhile, Arsenal drew 0-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea were held to a 1-1 against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

After United’s stunning comeback at West Ham, Arsenal faltered to a poor goalless draw at home to Blackburn.

The Gunners’ title hopes were dealt a major blow with Arsene Wenger’s side now sitting seven points behind leaders United, though they do have a game in hand.

Nicklas Bendtner went closest for Arsenal in the closing moments but 10-man Blackburn, who had Steven Nzonzi sent-off, held on.

Chelsea also dropped two points at Stoke, leaving the club in fourth place and 11 points off the pace – though also with a game-in-hand over Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.

Jonathan Walters broke the deadlock with an excellent goal before Didier Drogba’s header restored parity.

Roberto Mancini’s kept their faint title hopes alive on Sunday afternoon with a thumping 5-0 win over woeful Sunderland at Eastlands.

Ex-Red Carlos Tevez and Patrick Viera were amongst the goalscorers as City re-closed the gap on United to ten points.

With only seven games left, however, the Rowsley Street outfit would need a bizarre set of results to claim their first Premier League crown.

Attentions now turn to the Champions League, with United taking on Chelsea in European action at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Title favourites United then return to league action at home to Fulham, before the second-leg against Chelsea and the FA Cup semi-final with Man City at Wembley.
