Manchester United have parted company with 18-year-old goalkeeper Gary Woods. The teenager failed to make a competitive first-team appearance for the club since signing from Cambridge United. He has been snapped up by Championship outfit Doncaster Rovers; with the Yorkshire club handing the player a contract until June 2010.
Woods was told he had no future at United back in December - but has remained with the club as he searched for a new club and has continued to appear regularly for the under-18 side.
Intense speculation for goalkeeping places amongst United's junior ranks means that Woods is best placed leaving Old Trafford. With the likes of Tom Heaton, Ben Amos and Ron-Robert Zieler ahead of Woods in the pecking order, the player must seek a professional career elsewhere.
Good luck for the future.
