Can Berba do well?

Dimitar Berbatov has not enjoyed a dream start to his Manchester United career - and you have to question his attitude when the player describes United being crowned world champions as "the worst week of my life". However, the Bulgarian is determined to really impress for United in 2009 as he looks to repay the club for splashing out nearly £31million on his services.

You couldn't exactly describe Berbatov as a team player.

The formers Spurs striker is famed for his relaxed attitude and laziness - and has described the week that United beat Gamba Osaka and LDU Quito to officially crown themselves world champions as the worst of his life. Berbatov spent the week suffering with a virus and thus played no part in either game in Japan.

"Personally, the week in Japan was the worst week of my life." said Berbatov.

However, the 27-year-old netted a morale-boosting goal against Middlesbrough as United saw out 2008 with a crucial Premier League win. He's now netted three league goals in 15 appearances - though his record in Europe is vastly superior with four goals from three matches.

Berbatov's level of performance has been criticised from the more sceptical elements of the Old Trafford faithful - but the player is keen to prove his worth as we head into another exciting year for the club.

"It's always bad when you are not to be involved. But there is plenty more to come from me yet. I will keep working hard, though, and along with the other guys, I think we can do a lot. We are there and we can win the title."
