The mid-field was superb and it wasn't long before we had our first chance. On three minutes David Mcguire ran in to the penalty box and was brought down, unbelievably the ref booked him for diving.

With the defence solid and the mid-field in control it was up to the forwards to show what they could do. Martin Glancy take the stage, after a fine run from mid-field his shot from thirty yards beat Raith Rovers keeper Raul Ojeda easily. Eleven minutes and Airdrie are one nil up and it must be said cruising.

David Mcguire then got his just desserts on the half hour mark, scoring his first goal in an Airdrie United shirt with a curling shot. The half time whistle came soon after and still Raith had not had a decent shot on goal.

The second half was a little stale, except for one half chance early on Raith could not penetrate the Airdrie defence. As every Raith attack failed Airdrie counter attacked with a fine passing game out of defence. But it took until the eighty sixth minute for the third goal goal to come. A Paul Armstrong corner was fumbled by Raiths keeper and it fell to Airdrie Uniteds top scorer Stephen Docherty. Nothing could stop the header from three foot out. Eighty one minutes and the game was well and truly over, lets hope all our matches are this one sided.
