To reiterate my own view, I believe that a 10 club SPL would be the ideal big league format but only if there was a 2 up and 2 down system. The biggest problem, in my humble opinion – I am only an ignorant fee paying customer after all, in Scottish football has been the bottleneck created by the lack of promotion places to the ‘promised land’. A 12 club, though I’m willing to accept up to 18 in my thinking, ‘SPL2’ featuring only the full-time clubs but with a criteria based option to increase would be the way forward.

More power to Mr. Sutherland in my opinion. I hope that our own chairman, and those of St. Mirren, St. Johnstone, Hamilton, Partick, Morton, etc., can all agree on a way forward. It’s not that I don’t like Brechin, Stranraer, Cowdenbeath, etc., it’s just that they are operating on a different playing field nowadays. The modern world sucks but there is a situation brewing that could either see us mimic them through necessity, or we strive to better ourselves. Here’s my view on how next season could look under my ideal scenario.
