By Chris MacMillan Date: 17/11/2001 Fortunately the Results went in our favour today and Airdrie again have gone top of the Bells First Division with a 2-1 win over Falkirk. It may only be on goal difference but what does that matter.

With a fair start to the game by both sides it took a Miller goal to get the game moving on thirteen minutes. Ian Morris put Lee Miller through on goal and a simple chip over Airdrie goalkeeper Alan Ferguson put Falkirk on the scoreboard. The unfortunate thing from the in voice Airdrie fans point of view, was the fact that it was the second time within minutes that Falkirk had tried the same move and yet neither Kevin James nor Tony Smith seen it coming.

Airdrie as has been the norm for this season took control of the game for the next five minutes and a fine attacking run by Craig McPherson finished of by a cracking left foot shot brought Airdrie back into the game on nineteen minutes. Falkirk squandered several chances in the first half and Airdrie's Stewart Taylor came close with a header, which rebounded of the post.

There were a few yellow cards dished out by today's ref but the main event was the booking of Goal Scorer Craig McPherson, as he began another run through Falkirk's mid-field he was quiet obviously clipped from behind and went sprawling. Okay it was not a bad offence but by not booking the Falkirk player and not booking McPherson for diving surely the Airdrie player had the right to complain about the decision. Not in Ref Ian Fyfe's opinion.

The game was finished off when Falkirk keeper Myles Hogarth took a by kick which went straight to the Airdrie mid-fielder (ex-Bairn) John Henry, a short pass to another ex-Falkirk player Marc Roberts, noticed that keeper was still off his line and a chip from thirty yards out put Airdrie back on top off the league.

A suggestion is also being passed on amongst the Airdrie support, Give Owen Coyle a rest, after the Partick Thistle match play Roberts and Dunn up front and allow them to form a partnership, no matter how great Coyle is, it will be these two who play the biggest part in our future. With Coyle on the bench it would also give him further experience for his coaching role at the club.

With the kick off of the Scottish Cup today a question will raise it's head in the near future. Will Airdrie be allowed to enter into this year's competition after KPMG refused to allow the then team to play there game against Peterhead?
