Airdrie's Owen Coyle was the first on target within minutes of the start with a well placed header, but it was Mark Roberts who should have scored when he lifted the ball over the crossbar from four yards out.

Towards the end of the first half, goalkeeper Allan Ferguson who was outstanding, had to make three great saves in the closing minutes keeping Airdrie in the game.

For the first five minutes of the second half it seemed St Mirren had remained in the dressing room, chance after chance was wasted until the Mark Roberts again came close to scoring with a well placed shot that came of Ludovic Roy's post.

It became obvious that the game was heading for another 0-0 draw between the teams, as both came close to scoring.
