The Airdrie Player Of the Year were held last night 2nd of May 2004 in the Tudor Hotel in Airdrie. Once again the Trust would like to thank all those who bought tickets and made the night into a fine evening.

It's still strange to think that two years ago we were sitting in the same hall dying and last night I couldn't help but notice the changes. Maybe it was the usual faces smiling and singing maybe it was the sense of peace and the relaxed atmosphere maybe it was the fact Airdrie had just been promoted but the team were hapy the back room staff were happy the board were happy and most of all the Airdrie fans loving every minute of it.

It was even commented that the event just seemed to finish a little bit early.

 And the Award Goes to

 

 

 

 

 There were several awards presented last night the first two were for inductees into the Airdrieonians Hall of fame.

The first was an emotional presentation to both the fans and the staff, it went to Stevie Cooper and it was fantastic to have Stevies wife and mum and dad at the awards. The speech by Kenny Black had many of us with tears in our eyes.

The second award went to Billy Wilson awarded last night by his old manager Ian McMillan a well deserved award and probably a little late in the coming.

A knew award was also introduced this year, the first ever supporter of the year, presented by Jim Ballantyne to Walter Murray.

 

 

 

 

 Player Awards

 

 

 

Although it was probably a fore gone conclusion well before the event it was great to see such a young player receiving the Player of the Year Award the better news was that David Dunn has signed an extension to his contract and will be with Airdrie for some time to come.

The young player of the year went to our youngest first team regular Willie Mclaren again I think we all knew it would go this way.

 

Both these awards were presented by Sandy Stewart who seemed very relaxed last night and very much on form sharing more than one joke with the players.

 

 

 

 

Summary

 

 

 

Thanks go to all those involved in the night especially the guest speakers Jim Lieshman and Paul Ried who brought a laugh to the whole proceedings.

 

Walter Spiers compared the evening and our thanks go to him for making it all move along smoothly.

 

All in all a great night had by all thanks to every one involved.
