Airdrie United travel to Recreation Park in Alloa for an early morning start to take on the Wasps on their own turf, having played them and beat them once this season so far it should be a good game.

In our first match against Alloa it was Jerome Varielle who scored the only goal in the 1-0 Airdrie win, Alloa came to New Broomfield and played counter attack football for the full 90 minutes and seemed determined to hold out for a draw.

The squad has been effected by a mysterious  virus and until yesterday it looked like the Airdrie squad would be reduced to nine players. However most of the team returned to training today. Marvyn Wilson received an ankle injury injury during last weeks 1 -V- 1 game against Forfar, the good news is that the pulled ligaments have been responding to treatment and he will be fit for tomorrows game.

Definitely out for Airdrie are David Dunn, suspended due card count.
Singbo Félicien is on International duty for Benin
Kenny Black is still having problems with a calf strain
Lee Gardner is now fit and has only to get back to match fitness to enable his selection.

Sandy today said " I thought we played well for the first 30 minutes against Alloa, until Marvyn went off. the team lost shape after this and it wasn't until late in the second half we actually got any direction again. "

When asked about the change in performance once we went 4-3-3 " We did come back into the game, but the tactics used depends on our opponents and how we are performing early on in the game. If the 3-4-1-2 formation is working then we stick with that but we now have the personnel to enable us to change it when and if needed. Maybe we will surprise you all and start with 4-3-3 tomorrow but we don't want to be to predictable."

Alloa Athletics manager Terry Christie hopes to continue last weeks four goal show against Hamilton. A nine minute spell during the game saw Ian Little scoring two goals on his way to his first professional Hat-trick and it's hoped that this was not a one off. However Christie also needs to stop the laps in defence that saw Hamilton score three goals in return. "I was glad to get the three points but it was a very nervous second half"

There are no injury worries to concern Alloa for tomorrows game.

After beating Alloa earlier in the season we know they will be a hard team to break down, lets hope they do some attacking this time and give us a game of football. Away form has to get better and more consistant hoping for a win to Airdire.
