When you write the story of Airdrieonians season will our 4-1 home win over Queens Park be seen as a turning point or just another mystery from a team we are struggling to understand, who for the first time in a while played as a team.

I’ve always been one for taking every season one match at a time enjoying the sometimes few and far between victories and being frustrated, annoyed and disgusted by our performances. Yesterday’s victory was one of those games to savour and enjoy, it was an improvement but with the potential to be even better.

Queens Park started the stronger team and put us under early pressure then on nine minutes Andy Ryan made a run in to the box and was brought down. Iain Russell stepped up to the spot and made it 1-0.
Queens Park got themselves back in to the game when Daniel Boateng was judged to have brought down Dario Zanatta, Ross Millen stepped up and made it 1-1.

Another run from Andy Ryan saw him brought down once again and once again Iain Russell steps up and makes it 2-1.

Then just before half time a corner to the near post see’s Scott Stewart making it 3-1.

Airdrie’s fourth and the final goal of the game was another penalty, this time Queens Park defender Millen hand balled giving Iain Russell the chance to get his hat trick and he did. Airdrie 4 – 1.

Now the talking point why did Kevin Schmidt kick the ball at an opponent, resulting in him being sent off three minutes from the end of the game?

Prediction League.

No one had a 4-1 prediction this week which means that the Man in Black stays top of the prediction league.
