I think everyone was surprised at the long delay in winding up Airdieonians..but it was made clear in the report that there was a valid reason for this.
Anyone with an Accountancy background would be well aware that long delays can arise in cases like this.
Maybe a qualified Accountant that can explain futher??........................
Thrilled that they are taking steps towards purchasing vital parts of the history of the club. Hopefully something can be sorted, even if it has to wait a while!
Why would they pay for the history? Something is only worth money if there's a demand for it and I can't think of anyone else who would want it. They should wait until KPMG chuck it in the skip round the back of the office.
KPMG have confirmed that we are not the only party interested in purchasing the name and the crest but they did not tell us who (and wouldn't be allowed to).
Not a criticism of the Trust but a question - Did the Trust reps at the meeting simply accept KPMGs stance or were they asked to prove their stance in terms of the law - i.e - where legally does it say that this is the case or at the very least demonstrate legal precedent for their stance?
I appreciate the Trust is taking advice - and its the right thing to do - but my question is whether KPMGs stance was challenged and whether they were asked to prove that their stance was in fact correct legally - as Sptitzy points out "KPMG wait 11 years, and suddenly they can't do business because of the SHORT TIMESCALE."
They appear to have created the short timescale and you then ask yourself - Why?
According to last weeks Advertiser piece KPMG have given up chasing money from another company that has gone bust and have now decided this is the time to finalise matters.
In answer to your question the answers no, simply because none of us were prepared for this and the initial conversation have been carried out quickly with very little preparation time.
In truth we are working at something none of us thought was even the slightest bit achievable. I for one thought the doors were closed and everything was done and dusted in 2012. Maybe if we new it was possible we could have started earlier.
I can assure you though we are taking advice from people who have been successful at what we are trying to achieve.
