Last year a hand full of Airdrie Ramblers walked to West Highland way to raise funds for our youth development, next year they hope to do something similar and we would like to know if anyone else would like to be involved.
A number of Airdrie Supporters are thinking about undertaking a sponsored walk during the school holidays in April next year. The walk would be from the stadium to Dens Park, Dundee and we would be aiming to finish it in time to attend the game against Dundee on Saturday, April 11th.
Given our sponsorship deal with St. Andrews Hospice we propose to share any money raised between the Hospice and Youth Development at the club. A meeting will be organised soon to iron out the details.
We announced this a few months ago and with our members due to set out next week the official site has ran an article with a button that will let you donate online.
Day one)
We did the Stadium to Castlecary section of the walk on Mondya night giving us a little head start and warm up for the Tuesday.
Today we set out from Castlecary then up through Denny and in to Stirling, setting out at 9:30 in the mroning we finished for the day at 2:30.
Day Two, Wednesday
We've managed the walk from Stirling service to Auchterarder it was a tough walk up and around the hills near Stirling but we made it on schedule. Early night tonight as we have an early start tomorrow.
Day Three)
Thursday
Auchterarder to Perth, suprisingly the weathers stayed relatively alright and we made it too Perth in plenty of time.
Day Four)
Friday
Perth to Longforgan
The walk was uneventful but when we got to the accomodation we decided just to keep on walking, it was filthy. So we've arrived in Dundee and have left ourselves with three miles to do this morning.
