Brechin were formed in 1906 although a previous attempt at a senior team in the area had fallen by the wayside, born from two junior clubs, Hearts and Harp,when the Club first won the Forfarshire Cup, by defeating Arbroath F.C. nine of the players were local lads.They entered the league in 1923 but took some twenty years to achieve anything of note becoming Scottish League Division C Champions: 1953/54. The years between then and winning last season's Third division have seen them jump up and down the 1st 2nd and 3rd division's never having reached the top flight in scottish football.

The Black Death was a contagious bacterial disease, characterised by fever, delirium,and the formation of large pus filled swollen lumps called buboes, beginning in the armpits and groin, and spreading to the rest of the body.In Brechin Cathedral churchyard, a stone dated 1647 is inscribed thus - "Luna Quater Crescens Secentos Peste Peremptos Disce More Et Umbra Sumus.", which loosely interpreted means."Four Quarter Crescents Of Moon. Six Hundred Persons Died Of The Pestilence."
