Freezing temperatures throughout the day denied the Stags the chance of being able to make it 6 consecutive wins on the road. After a 12:30pm pitch inspection, officials deemed the pitch to be non-playable as it was frozen solid and temperatures were predicted to rise to no more than 3 degrees, leaving the game with no chance of being on.
The news comes as a blow to the Stags who were looking to record back to back wins for the first time this season and any momentum left from Saturdays fantastic away win is unfortunately victim to mother nature.
More worringly though, this means now that the fixture list for the back end of the Season is really starting to pile up and keeping the fitness up on our players is now top priority as any injuries to key players, could be crucial in our battle to avoid the drop. With 7 games already scheduled for the 4 weeks in March, the players will really have to earn their money.
With tonights match being called off, the only available dates are:
3rd-6th March
10th-13th March
7th-10th April
14th-17th April
21st-24th April
28th April-1st May
If the games is scheduled for any of the available dates in March, that will mean that the Stags will have to play no fewer than 8 games in March, a huge ask for even the biggest of squads.
The likelyhood is that it will be played at some stags in April, inside the available dates. Fingers crossed for no more postponements though!
