After Manchester City came in today with a bid of £15 million for Joleon Lescott, Everton responded by totally rejecting the offer
Lescott has been linked with big-spending City for several weeks, but this is the first time that the Eastlands club have tested Everton manager David Moyes' claims that none of his squad will be sold this summer.
Lescott was a key part of Everton's run to the FA Cup final, and won England caps under Fabio Capello last season.
"We have publicly stated - as recently as Wednesday night - that we do not intend selling any players," Everton chief executive Robert Elstone told the club's website.
"David Moyes' primary focus is on building a squad so that we can continue to compete effectively in what is the most competitive league in world football."
