Prediction League Game 3 - Airdrie Vs. Stranraer

By Stomp Admin
August 20 2016

As you all know Airdrie host Stranraer at Nou Broomfield (are we still calling it that?)  in this week’s Ladbrokes Division one much like playing Peterhead I’ve always seen Stranraer as a tough team to beat, they’re always strong, tough in the tackle and difficult to break down so like every other match in the division nothing is certain.

After our defeat last week to Livingston it was good to get back on track with a win against Motherwell’s U20’s, unfortunately during the match Daniel Boateng was taken off early and I’ve not heard anything further.

In the Prediction League.

I looks like Airdrie fans are backing a home win with 75% predicting it.

Sometimes you've got to win ugly and that's what we got today.

Relieved to get the win even tho' it was a close thing in second half as our wide players disappeared and the midfield two found it hard to find a good linking move. Strange penalty decision and the usual Charleson " I know better than anyone else" refereeing. Stuck to the defending and the back four did their job. Liked Ryan and Russell combo but they missed a couple of chances. Let's keep Stenny at the bottom next week.

Awful 2nd half. Played better last week against Livi and lost. ho hum

Well done young Rohan. While everybody else argued about whether it was a penalty or not, you did all you could do. Concentrated on the ball, and dived to save. Well held, 'cause any spillage would have almost certainly been hammered home. Well done young fella !

and, great to see Andy Ryan score again, but you should have stuck away a second, instead of trying to take it round the goalie.

I haven't seen the team this season due to family issues but a couple of observations from me:

Goalkeeper came in for criticism against Livi so a penalty save will do him wonders - that position and strikers are the ones where confidence is a huge issue for pros.

If we were as poor as people are suggesting - win or no win - it needs addressing - hopefully having the players all week will allow that to be looked at

I think - by all accounts - we have someone in Ryan who could get us 20 goals plus at this level - that will should keep you away from the wrong end of the league and give you a shout at the other end - play offs ? Probably way too early to say but a win against Stenny and you are 9 out of 12.
